About Abstract Work

Carol Anne Donato Works quickly with ink and permanent marker to allow her to capture fleeting bursts of inspiration and energy. Her art begins with a stream of fluid movement, guided by music and inspired by the vivid colors and floral imagery of Dia de Muertos.

Strong, harmonious and spiritual elements in her work seek to convey a desired connection to the afterlife. They combine as she’d imagine how the universe might look if she were to view it up close, and in great detail - space and time, a bright celestial spectacle!

Usually, she finds herself in a slight meditative state during and at the end of each piece of artwork she creates, like she is sitting in front of her own unique, personal mandala. Her goal is to inspire others to stop and look long enough to feel their own inner peace and energy, and for that feeling to stay with them, at least for a short while.
